Teenagers, Booster failed to raise requests for paid doses

Mumbai: Paid vaccination failed to see the uptick at the request despite the inclusion of adolescents on national travel and booster initiation for important workers and senior citizens since January.
Data shows that up to 93% vaccination in the city occurred in public centers.
With free centers have abundant stocks, many private centers throughout the country have stopped getting vaccines and holding drives at all.
According to Civic data, almost 14 doses of the lakh vaccine were given in the city this month, where 12.61 lakh was given in public centers.
Private hospitals are given a little more than the dose of lakh, including booster shots sent to their own staff.
Some private centers sit on a stack of inventory that are not sold hoping that teenagers and booster feet will help them spend their shares.
It did not occur, and private centers, in fact, were given less doses in January (1.04LEkh) compared to December (1.45lakh).
“Demand for paid vaccination is almost over.
We do not see an increase in demand even with the expulsion expansion to the new population group in January,” said Dr.
Sunil Agrawal from the Malad-based Sanjeevani Hospital.
“They are left with the vaccine trying to sell it before expiration.
No one in the private sector who buys now,” he said, adding that he had a stock of nearly 3,000 doses.
Dr.
Prince Surana, CEO of Surana Group, said that in each of the three hospitals, daily feet for vaccination no more than 50-60 per day.
“We plan to tie with school to vaccinate their students, but BMC said they would do it for free because they had a dose,” he said, adding that demand for paid vaccination could not see a surge surge like last year.
Covaxin costs, Rs 2,500 for two doses, play a role for most families.
“If a family has two children, it rises to RS 5,000.
Why do parents come to the paid center,” said the head of the hospital, adding that they had nearly 2,000 doses.
“Almost no 6-8 people come every day, so we are skeptical to open a bottle on a few days,” he said.
Dr.
Sachin Desai, state immunization officer, said 95% vaccination throughout the state was in the public center.
