Pilibhit: A 16-year-old girl allegedly raped and killed in the Uttar Pradesh district, a police officer said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday in a village under the boundary of the Barkhera police station, police said.
The teenager went to his college class on Saturday morning.
When he did not return his house at night, his family member began his search and contacted the police, said SP Dinesh Kumar.
The police found the girl’s body in a naked state in the sugar cane field close to her village, SP said.
There were a number of signs of injury to the body and a piece of cloth was found to be filled into his mouth, police said.
His books, bags, cycles and shoes were found lying a few meters from the body, police said.
Four bottles of beer, snacks and cigarette butts also recover from places, they said.
Underage family members have accused him of being raped by gang.
The police said all angles, including that gang rape, was examined and could not be ruled out.
Six people have been detained and interrogated, they said.
Based on complaints of family members, a case has been registered with one of the accused accused and five other unknown people under the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) and the protection of children from the acts of sexual violations (Pocso), police said.
The deceased’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, police said.
