Tehran: The capital of Iran Tehran has held a prayer service Friday the main public for the first time in 20 months, after being stopped in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The organizer said earlier that all health protocols would be followed to protect hundreds of worshipers expected during the ceremony at Tehran University.
Iran’s national Coronavirus Taskforce, which has stopped prayers, allowed the commencement again.
Friday public prayers have taken place in other cities, especially in small cities throughout the country since the summer.
Individual mosques have been free to hold normal services since early October.
This step came when Tehran hosted more than 400 Muslim scholars and religious leaders for meetings known as the International Islamic Union Conference.
Tehran’s communal Friday prayer was stopped for 20 months over Pandemic Coronavirus, which has killed more than 124,700 people and left around 4,400 in critical conditions in hospital since February 2019.
Statistics showed Iran as the worst Covid-19 mortality rate in the Middle East.
Iran has accelerated vaccination programs for 80 million people in recent weeks.
Nearly 27.6 million Iran had received their second shot, compared to around seven million when the Ebrahim President Relisi formed his government at the end of August.
Iran generally uses a synopharm vaccine made in China, although Russian-made-V sputnik, AstraZeneca English-Sweden, and its own domestic covbarue vaccine has also been used.
