Hyderabad: Nizamabad police have arrested three thieves and recovered eight bicycles and two automatic rickshaws worth 4.4 lakh from their ownership.
Defendant SK Mujahid, 19, a worker from Chandrasekhar Colony in Nizamabad, SK Mohsin, 24, a scrap vendor from Nizamabad and SK Mateen, 24, a worker from Maharashtra.
Given the increasing number of vehicle theft in Nizamabad, in accordance with the instruction of Commissioner K R Nagaraju, a special team formed under the supervision of the additional Aravind Babu DCP.
The special team maintained a watch on the suspect’s movement and during the vehicle examination conducted at Borgam Bridge in Nizamabad on Monday morning, intercepting a car rickshaw from Vinayaka Nagar.
When the police waved down on the car, the people on the tricycle tried to escape from where to leave the vehicle.
However, the police arrested them and during interrogation, the defendant claimed to have committed vehicle theft in the city of Nizamabad.
“Gang members make vehicle theft parked on the streets at night.
We caught them as they traveled by stolen cars to throw it away,” Commissioner said.
Based on the recognition of the defendant, the police recovered eight bicycles and two automatic pedicabs stolen from various places in Nizamabad and Nirmal.
The defendant was suspended in judicial detention.
