Hyderabad: Four workers Singareni Colliaries died when the underground mine roof surrendered when they worked in Srirampur in the Manerial District on Wednesday.
The accident occurred in SRP3 & 3a tended underground mine in Srirampur.
According to the official statement from Singareni Colliiary Company Limited (SCCL) the accident occurred while workers did the work of the roof stitching in the underground mine.
Suddenly part of the roof fell at 10:30 a.m.
The roof that collapsed was 6 meters long, three meters wide, two meters high and four workers were trapped underneath and lost their lives, said a SCCL official.
Died workers were identified as B laxmaiiah, 60, a wooden man, from Namnoor Village in Hajipur Mandal, V Krishna Reddy, 57, Wood, G Satyanarayana Raju, 32, Badli Workers, and R Chandrasekhar, 32, a Badli worker, 32 , from the city of Sirampam.
At the time of the accident there were around 21 workers including miners and support staff were issuing assignments in the mine and there were fears that more people could be trapped in the mine.
But at night it was clarified that other workers were safe.
“All four workers died in place in the accident.
There were no other workers left trapped in the mine.
We were told that other workers came out of the mine after the incident.
One body has been taken and strives.
Take three other bodies,” said Jaipur ACP G narender.
After learning about accidents, Social Social Officials and police rushed to the place.
Family members of workers and union representatives protested the SCCL authority to increase safety measures to ensure that the accident would not recur.
The Chair of the SCCL and MD, N Sridhar expressed shock and sadness over tragic incident.
While expressing condolences to the families of the victims, chairman and MD, ordered an investigation into an accident.
The SCCL authority also stated that the family members who had died will get a job at their choice and they will also receive compensation from Rs 70 Lakh to Rs 1 Crore.
