Hyderabad: following the state government’s decision to reopen universities for physical classes since September 1, management plans to start with practical classes for the first few weeks.
Students throughout Telangana will return to the classroom after more than 1.5 years.
According to sources, the government is likely to adopt the same guidelines released in September last year with a little modification.
While City Colleges is awaiting clear guidelines from the state government about reopening, many plans to start with a practical session.
“The pharmaceutical course for example is a laboratory-oriented course.
Every student must undergo a minimum of three to four lab classes every week.
Students have not been exposed to the lab session for the past 1.5 years.
It’s time for us to start with practical knowledge,” said K Ramdass, President Telangana Pharmaceutical College Association.
Teacher’s vaccination and students will play an important role when a college has begun to collect data before the reopening.
“We have asked all of our teachers and students to submit their vaccination certificate to us before reopening.
Those who are not vaccinated are encouraged to at least get their first dose before reopening.
Apart from this, we have also started taking sanitation steps,” Fareetha Farzana said, the principal, shining, LB Nagar.
Many colleges that run in Mandiri buildings inside and around Hyderabad may find it difficult to maintain social distance.
Therefore, colleges want the government to adopt a shift system for students.
“In the shift system, the first and second students can be called during the morning and other hours at the afternoon.
Not only that, students can also be divided into batches and ask for alternative days to maintain social distance,” said Laxma Reddy, Director, Association for strengthen private initiatives in rural education.
