Telangana develops smartphone-based e-voting applications

Hyderabad: The country’s first smartphone-based e-voting solution has been developed by the Telangana government and dry running will be held soon in Khammam District.
This software helps some voters, including senior citizens, people with disabilities, those employed in important services that are notified, polling personnel, and patients who cannot physically choose.
Technical support for this project is provided by the Advanced Computing Development Center (CDAC).
Development has also been guided by the expert committee consisting of Professor Rajat Moona, Director of IIT-BHilai and technical advisors for the General Election Commission, and Professors from IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi.
“The solution has been developed and tested.
The dry run in the form of dummy elections will be carried out in Khammam Regency by registration on open applications from 8 to 18 October, and Dummy voting will be held on October 20.

The smartphone application follows a minimalist design approach and supports English and Telugu, and also has detailed assistance parts with video tutorials and helpline numbers to help citizens.
The Android ‘E-Vote Tsec’ application is a security application that is hardened to prevent interference and also bind the device ID and telephone number to the process of registration of certain citizens so that only the same device can be used during voting.
The Main Secretary, IT Department, Jayesh Ranjan said: “Artificial intelligence and blockchain are two of the most flexible technologies that have empowered many of our Govtech projects.
We are happy to have supported TSEC in the initiative to build e-voting solutions for our citizens, and especially them Which might face a challenge with a physical vote with or without a covid-19 pandemic.
