Telangana Govt urges to allow marriage in the mosque

Hyderabad: Muslim groups on Thursday urged the government to allow residents to hold a marriage ceremony at Shahi Bagh-e-aam mosque in a nampellal, where Covid-19 restrictions were still there, even though the second wave had receded.
Marriage majorly took place at the mosques but because of Covid-19 norms, they had been closed and the inclusion of worshipers was only limited to prayer offerings.
The relatively bride told Tii that they were not given permission by the Mosque authorities, quoting Covid-19 norms but they objected when locking had been appointed.
“We were not given permission to do a marriage ceremony at Shahi Masjid Bagh-e-aam.
The reason is unknown,” said one of the relatives of the bride, Mohammed Abdul Qayyum.
“Such restrictions are disappointing because we (Muslims) generally prefer mosques to do marriage, “he said.
Syed Shakir, a Qazi who did marriage told toi that there should be no border imposed on the mosque to withstand marriage.
“The written instruction has been placed in the mosque to keep people in the bay of doing all kinds of wedding ceremonies even though many call me every day with a request to do marriage at the Bagh-e-aam mosque,” he said.
Mohammed Khasim from the Minority Welfare Department officer told the Toi that the meeting was still not allowed in the e-bagh e-aam mosque because of a pandemic.
“The government has asked to only allow prayer worshipers and prohibit marriage ceremonies,” Khasim said.
