Hyderabad: Chief of Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared war in the middle, stating that CESS worn by him on gasoline and diesel contributed to high fuel prices.
Data obtained by TOI on state tax showed that 14 countries, including Telangana, did not impose additional CESS.
However, the rest, including several union areas, imposes CESS as a percentage (per liter or kiloliter) or flat (in terms of rupees).
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh together with Telangana did not force their own Cess.
Jharkhand, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh Levy Cess (as per cents or rupees), while certain countries such as West Bengal and Sikkim impose CESS per kiloliter.
Some declare Levy Cess for road development and maintenance such as Andhra Pradesh (RS 1), Nagaland, Tripura, Rajasthan and Tripura.
However, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh have unique CESS and taxes.
Delhi does not have additional CESS on gasoline, but charges certain air atmosphere fees by Rs 250 per kiloliter on Diesel.
Jammu & Kashmir enforce Cess Rs 5 per liter for work, while Ladakh extracts Rs 5 per liter on gasoline and Rs 1 per liter on diesel for work.
The state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat, Cess City Rates Rates by 4% per liter, while Meghalaya, such as Delhi, collected pollution fees of Rs 0.10 per liter.
And, Goa is the only country that imposes 0.5% green CESS.
According to experts, Cess Collection is not included in the scope of a collection of public taxes.
“Cess must be worn under certain conditions.
However, every Cess collection will directly go to each state or central government, if it is imposed.
Because there is no sharing of CESS between the center and America, all governments use this as a source of income,” DR Krishna Reddy Chitti, Assistant Professor, Economic School, Hyderabad University, explained.
