HYDERABAD: Hotels in and about Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad have come beneath the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Cyberabad police radar as mules included with drug trafficking and golden smuggling are utilizing these resorts as transportation hubs.
In recent cases of heroin trafficking and gold smuggling, the DRI has discovered that smugglers pick up the bundle from mules remaining in the resorts in Shamshabad and ship it to forward destinations.
On June 5, DRI sleuths captured 12 kg of heroin worth Rs 78 crore and two passengers passengers in Uganda and Zambia acted as mules.
The sleuths detained the Ugandan once she arrived to collect her lost bags at RGIA.
The accused arrived at Hyderabad from Zimbabwe through Johannesburg and Doha and remained in a Shamshabad resort.
She didn’t take her bag originally and waited patiently for a couple of days.
A DRI official stated:”The girl was staying at the resort and was assumed to go back to the resort after collecting the bags and hand it on for her handler.
We’ve observed similar cases in gold smuggling.
Although the gold has been destined for different towns, the mules property in Hyderabad.” He explained the handler also remains in exactly the identical resort in Shamshabad at which the mules remain.
“They come in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and other metros into Hyderabad and select up the gold in the resort and depart the area,” he explained.
The resorts are currently under the defense of RGIA authorities along with the DRI.
Shamshabad deputy commissioner of authorities N Prakash Reddy told TOI,”After a foreigner arrives in a resort, the employees take their details and arranges them into FRRO site for enrollment.
The resort staff is going to need to keep a sign of guests checking .
Our patrolling staff frequently go to the resorts and examine the guest records.
When there’s a suspicion, we do it.
The DRI and other police agencies are looking into the two smuggling and trafficking cases”
