Hyderabad: The Khajaguda Heritage Rock Formation is threatened once again after the Viral video recently showed a man drilling them five days ago.
Lovers of inheritance and nature have risen from the time to protest illegal destruction of biodiversity hotspots.
Apart from the drilling activity on the protected site, activists noted that since January, plants have been revoked and mud and other debris disposed of to the ground to raise the land to reduce construction activities.
Fraue Quader, Secretary, the community to save Batu, said that there was a need to save rocks when they stood as habitat for flora and fauna.
“There are many activists who come from afar to save the site.
We are offered a guarantee from the local municipality that the area will be protected.
But, the place stands threatened for years now,” said Quader to Toi.
Khajaguda rocks attract many trekkers, nature and legacy fans.
Destruction encourages the ‘Save Khajaguda Rocks’ campaign.
It can be remembered that the Telangana High Court stated that there was no further damage that must be caused by rock after a private party claimed a small portion of the rock formation as its own soil.
However, since 2020, construction activities have been going on in full swing.
In the same year, during the visit of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to Meher Baba Dargah, the meadow center was flattened, wild trees were moved and the new trees were not original from Khajauda planted.
Furthermore, debris dumped to raise the top and connect the land on the hill to the outer ring road (ORR) and around 300 trees have been revoked.
Construction of new temples, pandal, Yagasala and the steps are being planned.
The experts noted that the AP government then passed the order on March 23, 1998, where nine rock formations in the city were told as ‘inheritance area’.
In July 2006, Huda issued a public notification because it included several survey areas in Puppalguda village as a legacy area and among them a 70m sheetrock of Rock Khajauda formation.
“Despite direct orders from the court, both GHMC and Huda did not take any action to prevent very clear destruction in Khajaguda,” Krishna Kumar said, a volunteer said.
