Hyderabad: In the development that has left many recipients of vaccines in Hyderabad and elsewhere in Telangana are surprised, health authorities have increased the gap between two covishield shots up to 98-112 days.
The recipient score is turned on, by saying the second dose will be given at 98- 112 days, unlike 84-112 days after the first dose, making it the first step like that to increase the gap between two covishield doses.
The center recently said that the second dose can be given after 90 days.
Both the center and the state have adjusted the time of time between two covishield doses.
Interestingly all neighboring countries still follow the 84 day routine for Covishield, including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
While some of the gap theory between two doses of vaccines is being discussed, experts say that delays may not have a negative impact on the efficacy of the vaccine.
“There is a flexibility to adjust the dose gap, but it is important that two doses are taken in the specified period,” said Dr.
Subodh Mandamutan.
Professor and Director of the Center for Health Care Management at the College of India (ASCI) Administrative Staff (ASCI) Many people who went to government vaccination centers were asked to complete 98 days after consuming the first dose of covishield.
“The decision must be reviewed after the third week,” said a health department official, added that they had not received fresh communication about this.
