Hyderabad: Telangana recorded seven new cases of omicron variants on Tuesday, amid fears of a sustainable surge in the state, even when the total number rose to 62.
Among new cases, three turned out to be a passenger who had returned to the country from The state of ‘AT Risk’, while four landed from non-risk countries in the last three days.
“There are three people among Omicron cases that have a history of travel.
All three including Lab technicians, a software engineer and pregnant women.
The three of them come from Hyderabad,” said the Health Minister Telangana, T Harish Rao.
The authorities declared three more patients as recovered on Tuesday, taking a count of patients restored to 13 so far.
Four samples collected from Positive RT-PCR passengers at the airport were sent for genome sequencing and 13 other samples were waiting for the report.
Overall, 165 passengers landed at the airport on Tuesday and 11,921 as a whole in December.
Telangana also saw 228 new cases of Covid-19 cases and one death, took the total number of active cases in the state to 3,459.
On Tuesday, 185 Covid-19 patients were declared recovered on Tuesday, taking the total number of patients recovered to 6.73 lakh.
Health authorities said 41,678 samples were tested for the Coronavirus novel on Tuesday.
GHMC recorded 110 cases on Tuesday (crossing a 100 mark for the first time in the last two months) while the neighbor Medchal-Malkajiri recorded 20 cases.
