Hyderabad: Instead of partying or spending time with family on New Year’s Eve, dozens of technicians from the city will multiply as traffic volunteers in various regions such as Jubilee Hills, Gachibowli and Kondapur which has high concentrations of bars and pubs.
Close to 60 volunteers registered with the Society for Cyberabad Security Counce will help the traffic police in managing traffic from 10pm to 4 in the morning on the night of Intervention December 31 and January 1.
For Surendra Uplainchwar, this will be his fifth consecutive year when he will be on the road to help traffic police on New Year’s Eve.
“I joined the traffic police every year to help them remove traffic, do drive drive checks, among others, I feel it is my job to help people with anything I can because it needs more awareness about many problems including driving with License, has a pollution certificate for vehicles etc., “said uplainchwar.
With heavy drinks and expected drive checks in the three commissioners, some volunteers will help people take the TSRTC bus.
“I will encourage people to use a special bus to be deployed by TSRTC for New Year’s Eve at various main junctions.
This volunteer gives more satisfaction and happiness than relaxing on New Year’s Eve,” Sai Taja said, an IT employee.
TSRTC has planned to operate the Metro Express bus for public comfort starting at 7:30 p.m.
to 3am at a rate of average 100 per head in one way.
Some residents and colonies also plan to hold a blanket donation, drives cleanliness and other events on December 31 and January 1.
