Hyderabad: Amateur historians have found a new factory fossil site in Bhupatipur Village in Muluugu District.
Members of ‘Kothha Telangana Charitra Brundam’ who explore the pre-historic sites found fossil factories in the forest of 4 km from Bhupatipur in Kannaigudem Mandal.
Sriramoju Haragopal from the group said: “The fossil area identified in the Bhupatipur forest is the most extensive of all.
The fossils here are 40 feet long to 25 feet.
Fossils are usually 10 feet up to 12 feet in the circumference,” he said.
He said this is a unique fossil site in Telangana and fossil animals and trees found abundantly in Basin River Pranahitha and Godavari.
He said more exploration must be done to find dinosaur fossils in the area.
“Dinosaur fossils are found in the formation of the city in the Yamanapalli District, Rangeddy and Khammam,” he recalled.
Palaeontologists say that conifers are used as food for dinosaurs.
