Telangana to allow private electric vehicles to refill Syns

Hyderabad: With the use of electric vehicles (EV) up and requests for charging stations for EV also grow, the Telangana government plans to allow private refill stations under the build operate and transfer mode (BOT).
Although there will be one recharging station for every 5 km in the city, one station for every 27 kilometers will be arranged on the national highway.
“Guidelines are being prepared to prepare 600 charging stations in the state other than 138 stations by Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSERDCO).
The tender will soon float,” said Deputy Chairperson of Tsredco and Managing Director N Janaiiah.
Private landowners and entrepreneurs can jointly manage filling stations on the basis of division of income and state government will help them, he said.
Tserdco has started preparing 138 refill stations, including 118 in Hyderabad and 10 each in Warangal and Karimnagar.
Officials said the number of EV numbers in March this year only 2,465, rose to around 3,800 in June.
In the past six months nearly 5,500 events registered in the transportation department, he said, “a sudden increase in the number of events in six months was mainly due to the surge in fuel prices in recent months and also the EV policy was announced by the Telangana Government,” said officials Tsredco senior.
