Telangana to spend 3,800 crore Rs on a sewerage plan

Hyderabad: The State Government will establish 31 Sewerage (STP) processing plants in the Musi Air region and bordered by the Hussainsagar Region of Nalas to treat 100% waste produced within the GHMC limit.
The Country Cabinet has given approval for the budget allocation of RS3,800 Crore for the implementation of the Sewerage Plan and as part of it, STP will be completed in the next two years.
The Minister of Administration KT Rama Rao said the government also gave RS1,200 Crore sanctions for the construction of reservoirs in the GHMC peripheral area.
“If STP is finished, Hyderabad will be the only city in a country that treats a 100 percent drain channel Thursday.
He said the generation of waste in the GHMC area was 1,650 million liters per day (MLD), while treatment capacity was only 772 MLD up to 25 STP.
Because there was a sewerage 878 MLD treatment gap, most of which came from the Musi River, the state government had decided to build more stps.
“After getting a report on sewerage status, the master plan was prepared through a consultant.
They said the total sewerage for this year was around 1,950 MLD – 1,650 MLD in the GHMC and 300 MLD in the peripheral area in the outer ring road,” said Minister said.
He said the works would be taken in hybrid annuity mode where 60% of the costs will be borne by the agency and a 40% break will be borne by the state government.
The company will maintain it for 15 years.
Meanwhile, the City Administration Department has issued sanctions RS1,200 Crore to provide adequate drinking water supplies for urban local bodies and Gram Panchayats which fall within the GHMC limit outside.
