The FIR was filed under the Official Secrets Act in the BKC cyber police station in Mumbai in March this season against unidentified people for allegedly tapping telephones illegally and draining particular confidential records on the complaint issued with the Maharashtra Intelligence Department. The alleged tapping of telephones had happened when Shukla led the state intelligence section. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis’d mentioned a letter supposedly written by Shukla into the then Maharashtra manager general of authorities about alleged corruption in police moves. The correspondence had details about calls that were intercepted, resulting in an uproar with leaders of the Shiv Sena-led judgment coalition alleging that Shukla exploited phones without consent. Prior to registration of the FIR, Maharashtra primary secretary Sitaram Kunte had alleged in a report filed to chief ministry Uddhav Thackeray it seems Shukla himself leaked that the confidential document (into Fadnavis). Last month, the authorities issued two summons (on April 26 and April 28) into Shukla, requesting her to appear until the BKC cyber division in Mumbai for documenting her announcement.
