Nagpur: The police confirmed on Sunday that the leader of Naxal Top, 57-year-old Teltumde, Yavatmal native, was killed in the Mardintol forest in the Dhanora subdivision of North Gadchiroli near the border of Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh at the meeting on Saturday.
Some other senior leaders from Naxal are known to have fled through heavy shootings during the meeting.
About 10 of 26 who were killed were not identified.
Teltumde is known as a member of the Central Committee and Head of Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh – Chhattisgarh (MCC) Zone of the Naxal Movement.
Teltumde’s death, has 63 violations of it and brings RS50 Lakh’s prize, confirmed on Sunday by SP Ankit Goyal.
He also confirmed the death of the two bodyguards, including a woman.
In accordance with the police procedure, Teltumde’s body was identified positively by Naxals who surrendered.
Goyal said 26 Maois was neutralized in the meeting, including six cadres and some of Chhattisgarh.
