Temper flew as an ambulance queuing outside Nimhans

Bengaluru: High drama applies outside the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciss (Nimhans) on Tuesday night with an ambulance that brings patients to queue outside the hospital emergency ward.
Around 8:30 a.m., a police officer from Jeevan Bima Nagar rushed to the hospital in an ambulance with a patient who suffered trauma after an accident.
When reaching Nimhans, senior officers found that 8-10 ambulances had more patients waiting for the bed.
“The big hospital failed to provide medical assistance during an emergency and no one could guide us about what to do next.
This is disappointing,” said the senior police.
“The patient lay in the ambulance and some of them struggled for life,” he said.
Shekar K, an ambulance driver, said he picked up a 64-year-old senior from Adugodi who suffered to fall and bleed and rushed to Nimhans.
“When Nimhans are the closest, I go there but it is made to wait for more than one and a half hours.
Worried that my patient’s condition can worsen, I go to another hospital,” Shekar said.
Likewise, Samuel, another ambulance driver, who transports 43-year-old patients who complain of breathing difficulties, said the latter was rejected by medical assistance.
Lalitha Kumari, a sister of a patient who had to wait for help, said he was worried that his brother might die because the treatment was immediately not available.
“He suffered from difficulty breathing and was taken to Nimhans because it was closest to Tilak Nagar.
However, we were made to wait,” said Lalitha.
However, the sources of Nimhans regretted that a police officer created a chaos at the hospital in everyday situations and the Siddapura police must be called to the place.
They say they only have 15 ventilator beds in their emergency section and can do a little when they are filled.
