Quetta: separatist rebels have claimed responsibility for attacks on Pakistani military posts near the southwest port where China invests, and the army said 10 soldiers were killed.
The attack was launched on Tuesday on Tuesday in Compene, north of the Gwadar Port, was the toughest in several years in a low uprising which was an ethnic baloch guerrilla had tried to fight the Pakistani government.
“We are firm in our commitment to get rid of Pakistan of all forms of terrorism,” said Prime Minister Imran Khan in a statement on Friday where he paid tribute to the 10 “Martyred” soldiers.
The army said it killed one of the attackers and arrested three in a permit operation that still happened.
The rebel group Front Baloch Liberation (BLF) claims responsibility for the attack, by saying in a statement sent to Reuters reporter that 17 soldiers and one of its members was killed.
Ethnic Baloch Guerrilla has fought the government for decades for a separate country, said the Pakistani central government unfairly exploited the rich gas and mineral resources of Balochistan Province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran.
China was involved in the development of Gwadar Port in the Arab Sea and other projects in the province as part of the China-Pakistani economic corridor of $ 60 billion, which is part of Beijing’s belts and road initiatives.
Rebels often target gas projects and infrastructure and security posts in the province but have begun to launch attacks in other parts of Pakistan.
They also attacked Chinese projects, and sometimes killed Chinese workers even though there was a guarantee of Pakistan that he did everything to protect Chinese projects.
Pakistan also accused India secretly supporting the rebels.
India denies it.
