Nagpur: Mountaineer Bachendri Pal jumped surprisingly to his friends two years ago: What about the Trans-Himalayan 4,500km expedition from Arunachal Pradesh to Ladakh by the only group of women between 50 and 70? The first woman of India for the MT Everest scale in 1984 was not joking, but then the plan was cold when everyone squatted for a passing pandemic.
Friend, 67, does not give up and now 10 women get ready for a lifetime adventure this March.
Friend, a Padma Bhushan Awardee, and his friends met at Wardha Maharashtra recently for the event and decided to continue the expedition.
“There are many things that happened to the ‘Fit India’ campaign.
We want to show that those over 50 years old can be physically suitable,” said Pal.
His friends had held mountain climbers – some have scaled MT Everest and some parts of his trip that had been offended.
The plan was interesting, but their age made them think twice.
“It took almost five months to complete this expedition,” said Chetna Sahoo, 54, from Kolkata who climbed MT Everest with her husband (is late) Pradeep in 2016.
“I mapped the route.
Every trans-Himalayan expedition requires crossing a number of trails.
If all Planning, we will start from Arunachal Pradesh in March and end up at Tiger Hill (from Cargil War Fames) about five months later, “he said.
Bimla Negi-Deoskar and Avinash’s husband had trained tribal youth from Chandrapur, Maharashtra, to the MT Everest scale.
He is part of the expedition, which he said about violating stereotypes.
“Usually when you enter the last 50s zone, the focus is relaxing and settling in retirees.
But pensions can be a new start, with new streets to explore,” said the 54-year-old player from Nagpur.
