Tens of thousands of rallies in Bangladesh for attacks on Hindus

Dhaka: Tens of thousands of minority religions rose in cities throughout Bangladesh on Saturday as protests against a series of deadly attacks on the temple and Hindu house.
Demonstrations were held in more than 60 places in all Muslim majority countries, including the capital Dhaka, as protesters vent anger over the anti-Hindu riots last week which killed seven people.
“Law enforcement agencies and civil administration really fail to protect minority people, especially Hindus,” said Rana Dasgupta, a leader of the Bangladeshi Hindu Christian Association Board, which regulates the demonstration.
Dasgupta said the biggest protest was held in the second largest Chittagong city of Bangladesh where at least 15,000 people joined.
Another major rally occurred in the Shahbagh neighborhood in Central Dhaka where several thousand gathered.
“The purpose of this terrible attack is to drive a minority of their homes as did in the past,” said Dasgupta.
He said the protesters had submitted 11 demands to the authorities including the arrangement of the Judicial Commission to investigate the attack.
Anti-Hindu Riots spread to many parts of the country after the recording emerged from the Qur’an which was placed on the knee of Allah Hindu during the celebration for the Hindu Durga Puja Festival.
Hindu redeemed about 10 percent of the Bangladesh population.
But the minority community is often a victim of communal violence in the country of 169 million.
Police Bangladesh said they arrested around 500 suspects in connection with attacks on Hindu temples and other traits.
They include a Muslim who allegedly put the Koran on the Hindu idol knee.
Authorities say they have mobilized extra security including paramilitary border guards to control further riots.
High-speed cellular internet service was closed last week in a clear effort to prevent spreadness of spread.
Prime Minister Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina also met with the leaders of the Hindu community and promised to take firm action.
