Kuli: A 21-year-old man died in police custody in Paschim Bardhaman Bengal Regency on Tuesday morning, triggered tensions in the area, when the locals threw stones at the post, where he was detained, and burned several vehicles outside, a senior said officer.
Complaints submitted by the Father of the deceased, after two police officers, who had arrested him on Monday night because of his involvement in the case of theft, suspended, he said.
“The health condition of the defendant deteriorated in detention.
He was declared dead when he was taken to the nearest hospital,” said the senior police officer.
The big police team, who rushed to the Barakar area to control the situation during the day, used tears to disperse a horde that attacked the leading post.
“No one was injured in riot.
We have suspended two police officers who handled this case.
The situation was controlled at this time,” the officer added.
