Terrorism continues to cause a serious threat to Afghanistan, region: India at UNCC

New York: emphasized the expectations of the international community that recorded Taliban’s commitment not to allow the use of Afghan land for terrorism, India at the UN Security Council meeting, said that terrorism continued to pose a serious threat to the Afghanistan and the region.
“The resolution of the Security Council 2593 clearly sets the boundaries that describe the expectations of the international community on various critical and immediate problems,” said the Indian Ambassador to the UN Tirumu on Wednesday (local time) during the UNSC meeting in Afghanistan.
“This records Taliban’s commitment not to let the use of Afghan land for terrorism, including the appointed under the UNSCR 1267,” he added.
Furthermore, the Ambassador said that the resolution “2593 also put the expectations of the international community in terms of inclusive political settlement, negotiated, with full participation, equivalent and meaningful for women and minorities and a variety of ethnic political groups in the country”.
He also highlights that direct priority is to evacuate people who are stranded and ensure their free movement.
Referring to the Delhi Declaration in Afghanistan adopted in the third regional security dialogue from the National Security Advisor in Afghanistan, he said that the declaration reflected “regional consensus in Afghanistan and has been welcomed by the international community and the main stakeholders including from Afghanistan”.
Tirumuti emphasized that Afghanistan had seen “lots of bloodshed and violence” in recent years and now urgent humanitarian aid is needed to meet the needs of the people’s basic food.
