Terrorists attacked the police bus in Srinagar; 2 police killed, 14 injured

SRINAGAR: At least three terrorists attacked a bus of Jammu and Kashmir police transporting people from Battalion 9 to Zewan police camp on Monday evening, killing two policemen and wounding 14, some of them critically, said a police spokesman.
The attack occurred at Pantha Chowk area of ​​Srinagar.
“The source of credible revealed that the attack was carried out by Kashmiri Tiger, a branch of JEM,” said IGP (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar, adding, “In shooting one of the retaliation of terrorists were wounded.

The attack killed 16 police were injured; two of the injured surrender their injuries in hospital, police said.
A tweet from the PMO said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been seeking details about the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the police “martyrs” in the attack.
An official said the bus had visible blood stains on the chairs and punctured by bullets on all sides, especially the front as suggested by the image on social media.
An eyewitness said local residents helped police evacuate the wounded to the hospital.

J & K Congress Committee (JKPCC) condemned the attack in the area Zewan and expressed sorrow for the loss of life and injuries.
JKPCC spokesman called the attack as “reckless and inhuman” and urged the government to identify the gunmen for exemplary punishment.
“The security situation has deteriorated to a great extent, the government must take steps to loss of life,” the spokesman added.
NC leader and former J & K CM Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack, as did the Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee.
J & K Lt-Gov Manoj Sinha said he has directed the authorities to provide the best possible treatment to the wounded and that “the police and security forces are determined to neutralize the evil forces of terrorism”.
