Coimbatore: Health wing officials from City Corporation on Sunday slapped 200 in 25 textile shop employees on Jalan Oppanakara who were busy because they were not wearing a team led by a sanitary inspector that did not wear a mask even though hundreds of people resembled the shop on the day Sunday.
With Covid-19 cases increased sharply after the new variant, Omicron, spread quickly, health officials were alert to ensure that preventive measures were followed.
“We are conducting a surprise inspection in public places and commercial companies, where people gather in large quantities.
As Covid-19 spreads easier in crowded places, the use of masks and the use of cleaners must be made mandatory,” said An official.
Special teams will be deployed on Sundays to ensure that preventive measures followed, he added.
