Hyderabad: Four workers Singareni Colliaries died after the underground mine roof collapsed in the Manherial District on Wednesday.
The accident occurred in the underground mine of the Monderground SRP3 & 3A in Srirampur in the Manherial District and four workers were buried under a pile of debris.
“Workers were involved in the work of the roof stitching in the underground mine.
Suddenly the part of the roof fell at 10:30 a.m.
).
“The four workers were trapped underneath and lost their lives,” SCCCL official said.
While the internal probe was ordered by the Chair of the SCCL and the Managing Director N Sridhar to find out the reasons behind the collapse of the roof, the mining family protested more safety steps for their relatives.
Died workers were identified as B laxmaiiah (60), V Krishna Reddy (57), G Satyanarayana Raju (32) and R Chandrasekhar (32), all of them came from neighboring areas.
Eyewitnesses say there are around 21 workers, including miners and support staff in the mine, raising fears that more people can be trapped in the mine.
However, at night it is clear that all other workers are safe.
“Only four died in the accident.
No other workers were trapped in the mine.
We were told that other workers came out of the mine after the incident.
One body has been taken and attempts to take three other bodies,” said Jaipur ACP G Narender.
After learning about accidents, Social Social Officials and police rushed to the place.
Family members of workers and union representatives protest the demands that the SCCL authority must increase the safety measures to ensure that such accidents do not repeat.
The SCCL authority calmed the convincing demonstrators that one of the dead-died family members would be given a job at their choice and also will be compensated between Rs 70 Lakh and Rs 1 Crore.
