T’Gana: After Infra Boost, 2021 saw the max organ contribution

Hyderabad: Last year saw a jump in organ contributions, surpassed all the previous years since the launch of the Jeevandan corpse program in the state in 2013.
Compared to 75 donors in 2020, there were 162 donors in 2021, accounting for 616 organs donated.
In fact, in the last two months of this year, the maximum contribution was carried out.
Last year also saw maximum lung donations – 83.
The number of second lung donations was recorded during the 2020 pandemic year when there were 20 contributions made.
In previous years, lung donations ranged from zero and nine.
Meanwhile, the total number of recipients registered is currently waiting for an organ of 7,523, which is much higher than donations.
Officials hope to increase the amount of further contributions.
In 2013, when the Cadaver Jeevandan transplant program was launched, there were 41 organ contributions.
Donations rose in 2018 to 160 and took a hit in 2020 because of a pandemic.
However, after the first wave, the increase in the arrangements of reditic care at the government hospital triggered a better opportunity for organ contributions.
Talking about the increase in infrastructure, Dr.
Gwarnaliatha, the responsible Jeevandan program, said, “a drastic increase in critical care infrastructure throughout the country, especially in remote districts allowed us to harvest more organs.
Previously, it was difficult to get organs in the regions Remote where the ICU and ventilator facilities are not there.
It makes it impossible to keep patients critical, and therefore such patients are brought to larger centers mostly in Hyderabad.
“Swarnalia said,” We regularly do donorkondolence programs , Awareness Program, CME program, hold a donor promise kiosk, donor felicitation program to increase donations.
