HYDERABAD: With the likelihood of a new president being appointed to Telangana Congress anytime soon, Congress veteran and former MP V Hanumanth Rao (VHR) on Saturday shot off a letter to the party president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to send central observers to elicit the opinion of all senior and junior leaders before taking a decision on appointment of new TPCC president and CLP leader.
In his letter, Hanumanth Rao urged Sonia Gandhi not to depend solely on the report submitted by AICC in-charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore for appointment of a new TPCC president.
“AICC central observers were sent to Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala when there was a difference of opinion on PCC chief posts in the respective states.
The same policy should be followed in Telangana too as Congress veteran and loyalist’s opinion should be taken on important party matters,” he said.
Taking a hasty decision relying only on Tagore’s report may cause severe damage to the party.
Already 12 Congress MLAs have defected to the TRS and that it cannot be ruled out that a few more MLAs will not leave the party.
Also, there is no guarantee that those who have joined the Congress from other parties will continue to remain in the Congress, he stated in the letter.
