Hyderabad: The Telangana Industry Minister KT Rama Rao has been seeking central support for various initiatives taken by the state for the handloom and texiles sector.
In a letter to the Finance Minister Union Nirmala Sitharaman and the Textile Minister Union Goyah, KTR urged central fund sanctions for major projects such as Kakatiya Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal and Mega Powerloom Cluster in Sircilla.
He also asked projects such as the Institute of Indian Handloom Technology (IIHT) to be established in the state and offered a garden handloom on puchampally for the same thing.

He also asked the center to sanction the Mega Powerloom cluster at Sircilla with RS 49.84 Crore funds from expenditures projected by Rs 993.65 Crore to fill various gaps and to implement various components.
KTR has also requested a center to allow the increase in powerloom under the in-situ scheme and declare the willingness of Telangana to contribute 50% of the cost of improvement.
He also looked for sanctions 15 cluster handloom block level (BLC) under the National Handloom Development Program (NHDP).
He also called for relaxation in bank financing requirements under the Amendment Technology Upgrade Fund (Atuf) for large textile projects from 50% of existing projects 5% to help companies finance their projects according to the size and business needs when ensuring adequate project supervision by Loan institutions are notified.
