Hyderabad: A 16-year-old boy who drove a high-speed SUV finally ran more than four workers on the sidewalk on Sunday morning in Karimnagar.
Three people died in place, while the fourth died at the hospital.
Two more injured and recovered at the hospital.
After the accident, the teenage father, a local businessman, was ordered based on Section 304 II (guilty murder did not amount to the murder) IPC and detained.
Police Karimnagar said that around 6 am a teenager, who was in grade 9, along with two friends, who was 14 years old, began in the SUV for the local stadium to play badminton.
Near the intersection, the boy lost control, turned left and ran on the workers on the sidewalk before hitting an electric pole.
The victims were all workers whose families made a living by selling leather sheep and goat’s legs, in addition to selling knives and several other tools on the sidewalk.
The deceased was identified as P Lalitha (27), P Sunita (30), Petiyang (32) and S Jyothi (14).
One woman was trapped between the SUV and the electricity pole where the vehicle finally fell.
Boy drove SUV on the same road before: Police Copskarimnagar said that the 16-year-old boy was involved in a road accident that killed four people had driven a vehicle on the same road in the past.
The police said that his father, Rajendra Prasad, was suspected of being aware of this.
The police further said that Challan was released against the SUV in the past to speed up.
