Visakhapatnam: Telangana police, who were at the Vizag Agency for a feed operation to look for marijuana smugglers and kingpin in trade, shooting fire while spreading a group of people near Lammasingi Village in the Mandal process, injuring two people.
The police came from the Nalgonda district.
They opened the fire after the group threw stones on them.
Two marijuana smugglers were injured and shifted to a government hospital in Narsipatnam for treatment.
Police Nalgonda task unit recently won more than 300 kilos of marijuana dry.
Their investigation revealed that one Balakrishna, along with several other people from Lammasingi, supplied Owned Goods in Nalgonda.
The police came to Lammasingi in connection with the case to smuggler NAB.
On Friday they arrested one K Bhima Raju from Annavaram.
Their efforts to arrest Balakrishna, however, proved futile.
Family members and acquaintances Bhima Raju, who were looking for him then learned that he had been arrested by the police.
On Sunday, Nalgonda police decided to hand over Bhima Raju to his family.
While they headed to Annavaram, a number of villagers, including several marijuana smugglers, waiting for the police.
Suspecting that the locals will attack them, the police tried to return but their vehicle was trapped near Lammasingi because of traffic on Jalan Ghat.
The villagers who were angry, including several marijuana smugglers, threw stones at the police.
Some personnel suffered injuries in battle, which also damaged their vehicles.
Nalgonda police then open fire in the air in self defense.
However, two people – Kamaraju and Rambabu – suffered a bullet injury.
Dig (Range Visakha) L V V Ranga Rao and Vizag Rural Police Chief B Krishna Rao confirmed the shooting report.
The people who were hurt shifted to the hospital where his condition was said to be stable, they added.
