Hyderabad / New Delhi: Telangana is ready to become the first country in this country to start a trial to provide a vaccine by drones to health care centers from Thursday.
Bluedart Express along with Delhi-based drone delivery, Skye Air Mobility will conduct a trial at Vicarabad from September 9 to October 17 as part of the ‘Medical Sky’ Telangana project, which was launched by the end of 2019 in the World Economic Forum Partnership (WEF).
On Thursday, a 2-3 kg box will take off from the Vicarabad district hospital for a 500 meter primary health care center, fly to a height of up to 400 feet.
“This is the first trial that gives Jabs with different drones and corridors have been identified for this purpose,” said Co-Founder Skye Air Mobility, Swapnik Jakkampudi.
“On Thursday we start with a visual visual line (VLOS) that will travel up to one kilometer.
Then, when we go BVLOS (outside VLOS) in this trial, we will provide up to 10 km in 20-25 minutes.
We conducted this trial under the Med Express Blue Dart consortium.
“Not a Covid-19 vaccine, but medical samples in the initial trial of three phases will see six flights a day, with each drone carrying 175 vaccines in the box controlled by temperature.
Being a trial, the vaccine delivered at first it would not be a valuable Covid Jab but others along with medical samples and other health items.
During the first two days of experiments, drones will fly in VLOS mode and start September 11 and so on, Drone Bvlos flights will take place.
Fighting Minister of Uni, Jyotiraditya Scindia, also, tweeted on the trial on Wednesday: “The rules of the 5021-liberalized drone have opened the water door innovation! Visiting Vicarabad, Telangana, to launch the ‘drugs from the SKY project’ where the drone will be used to transport Vaccines into remote areas.
