Hyderabad: In significant steps to provide free and high-quality health services to people, the state government is expected to increase the coverage of Aarogyasri from Rs 2 Lakh to RS 5 Lakh.
Formal directives are expected to be issued soon.
According to sources, state administration is currently asking for input from state network hospitals and experimenting with various possibilities.
They added that the decision, to improve the cover, was taken by considering the fact that basic care costs have also increased in recent years.
This has encouraged many people to look for additional debt to fulfill their medical expenses.
“Therefore, Chief of Minister K Chandrasekhar RAO has proposed an increase in coverage to reduce the burden on people,” the top source said.
According to people in, refined limits will also be useful if more than one member falls ill in a year.
Aarogyasri currently includes 1,020 forms of care, while Ayushman Bharat Yojana from the central government covers 1,668 treatments.
After a strong opposition to the central demand for implementing their health care system, the Telangana Government applies this year’s scheme.
The state has now integrated the two schemes.
Both schemes share 1,020 treatments, while the central scheme also includes 646 schemes.
Aarogyasri includes 79 lakh people, while Aayushman Bharat Yojana includes 30 additional lakh families.
But the source said that some major hospitals refused to accept patients insured by the scheme due to delays in payment.
Network hospitals also often complain to the state government about delays in payments.
“If the payment is not too far behind the schedule, many hospitals will take patients under the system,” said the network hospital manager, added.
“It’s true that expanding coverage will greatly benefit patients.
So, we will do our best to provide the best service.”
