Chennai: The State Government on Wednesday decided to give Communist Leader Veteran N Sankaraiah, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday, with the ‘Thagaisal Thamizhar’ award that was recently formed.
Minister of Man Chief M K Stalin will present award to Sankaraiah at the celebration of Independence Day in Chennai on August 15.
This award brings quotes and checks for Rs 10 lakh.
Responding to the announcement and expressed his intention to receive the award, Sankaraiah thanked Stalin for recognition.
But he donated Rs 10 Lakh gift money to CM’s Covid-19 Relief Fund, said the CPM party in a statement.
