Thane: A total of 159 motorists and co-passengers were ordered by Traffic Police Thane after a surprise trip at the weekend ‘Gatari’ in the city, the traffic police said on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ballasaheb Patil said special drives were carried out over the weekend.
The violation was slapped against those who drove under the influence of alcohol and their co-passengers.
Mumbra recorded 28 cases, followed by 16 cases each in Kalyan and Kapurbawdi, said Patil.
Rabodi only has one case while Vithalwadi has two cases of drunk driving.
An official said 115 drunk drivers were ordered based on section 185 while 44 co-passengers were booked based on part 188 of motor vehicle laws.
