Thane: In a large reshuffle, 170 junior staff at Thane Municipal Corporation, posted at the same table for several years in important tax billing and the anti-encroachment department, amending, among others, was transferred during their weekend and was asked to resume the role assigned on Monday .
The majority of staff that have been moved are clerks, field staff from the tax collection department, shop and establishment and anti-encroachment department, along with those employed with the Department of Public Works.
Senior officials, requested anonymity, said this major overhaul was being planned for a long time after the corruption instance involving junior officers.
“Some staff members work in the same department for a long time and maybe there is a possibility that collusion leads to conflict of interest because the action was taken.
The decision was taken last weekend and the order was being sent until Sunday,” the official said.
The problem of corruption in lower-level stairs is widely discussed after an attack on senior officials and suspension of an employee of the alleged Nexus with vendors.
“This seems to be the government’s effort to break down the possibility of corrupt Nexus for his junior staff and also raised his picture following a series of recent incidents,” observers said.
