Mumbai: Three-year-old Leopard was found dead on Jalan Ghodbunder in Thane on Tuesday night.
The earliest official suspected that wild cats have been hit by a vehicle while crossing the road.
Kasas was noted by motorists near Chena Creek in Ghodbunder Road, which was surrounded by Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
Forest officials reached the place and took the custody of the carcass.
Forest data identifies leopards as C-40, Meopard Male is around three years old.
Postmortem was carried out at the Wildlife Hospital, Borivli.
