Thane: A 52-year-old woman allegedly cheated by several online scamsters who lured her with a Prem post for her son at a leading car company and gradually made him pay more than Rs 26 Lakh for one year, the police said Sunday.
According to Kalwa police, the complainant is a resident of Kalwa and is looking for a job for his son who has implemented a cellular application to find a prominent job.
“Women and his son received a telephone call on various occasions for the past two months to tell them about the approved job application.
The caller convinced the duo to deposit money quoting various reasons such as registration,” said an official.
However, the duo began to suspect when the caller failed to give a confirmed date and continued to insist on more money after they approached the police and filed a complaint.
“We have registered complaints against nine accused of being crowned by complainants and his son below 420, 406, 34 of the IPC and parts 66C, 66D from the IT Law,” told a police officer.
