Thane: Thane police have caught Tarique Parveen, the alleged Aide of Underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim, in the case of extortion where the former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Singh was one of the accused.
Tarique Abdul Karim Merchara aka Tarique Parveen (55), who was in prison in another case, desired in a case registered at the Thane Nagar police station here, an official said.
The names of Cemara are currently more than 20 people including Singh, who have become police commissioners of Mumbai and Thane, and several other police officers.
It was put forward on complaints from Ketan Tanna’s builder, who alleged that Singh and other officers extorted money from him by threatening to sing him in fake cases when Singh was the police commissioner Thane.
Parveen, accused of other extortion cases, submitted in Taloja Prison.
The court in Mumbai on Friday ordered him to be submitted to Thane police.
Police Thane produced it in front of a local court who returned it in police custody until September 22.
Singh hasn’t been arrested in this case so far.
He was transferred from the position of Police Commissioner Mumbai in March after the incident scare the antilia bomb.
