Thane: Don’t expect help, the government did not have money, Minister Jitendra Awhad said at that time

Ulhasnagar: Immediately after the Mayor of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) promised to assistance RS 50 Crore to those who were displaced due to the demolition of dangerous buildings, the State Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad on Friday said citizens should not expect any financial assistance because the government did not have money and No money took a loan to pay salaries to his staff.
Awhad is being intended in a program organized by the Ulhasnagar Trader Association for residents who are considered homeless after the civil body destroys dangerous buildings.
The Mayor of UMC Leelabai Ashan of Shiv Sena has recently promised that he will regulate RS 50 Crore assistance from the government to help refugees by building a transit camp.
He also assured that the funds would be used to pay rent for those who were forced to evacuate their homes.
But Awhad’s statement that the government did not have money made the population disappointed.
“To resolve the problem of regularization of illegal buildings, the state must bring a new law,” Awhad said.
“But if (UMC) think the government will provide financial assistance, they must forget it because the use of the government does not have money because of a pandemic.
The state pays salaries to the staff by taking a loan,” he said, adding that the UMC commissioner must provide the right notice before destroying the building dangerous.
BJP Corporator Deepak Sirwani, who is the Chairman of the UMC Committee, said Awhad’s statement made a gap in a striking Themva government when their leaders provide conflicting statements.
