Thane: Gang Coppockets and cellphone thieves from West Bengal who are usually traveling to Mumbai to target commuter trains during the Festival season captured by Thane train police, officials said on Tuesday.
Psi Ashok Holkar from the Thane train crime unit said the gang was led by two kingpins, used to hire young people from 24 new parganas district by luring money easily and took them to Mumbai to execute their crimes.
They mainly target cellphones and wallets, police said.
The gang was caught after the crime unit personnel detained five people moving suspiciously at the Thane train station in Lakshmi Pujan Day (November 4).
