Thane: Coppockets gangs and cellphone thieves from West Bengal – who are usually traveling to Mumbai to target commuter trains during the festive season – arrested by Thane Maharashtra train police, officials said on Tuesday.
Psi Ashok Holkar from the Thane, Gang, led by two kingpins, used to hire a refreshing of their original land in 24 new pargases by luring the money easily and took it to Mumbai to execute their crimes.
The mandate for recruitment by their boss is targeting cellphone and swollen wallet during the festive season, police said.
“The gang was used to train people before they executed their work at a busy Mumbai train station.
They used to arrive at Mumbai together and then fan and return home together.
Gang, along with fresh recruits, has landed in Mumbai at 1 November ahead of the season, “Holkar said.
The gang was caught when the crime unit personnel patrol the train station on November 4 at Lakshmi Pujan when they saw five people on two separate teams moving suspicious on the platform.
“The men began to run after seeing us followed that we pursued and arrested them.
Kingpin managed to escape,” Holkar said.
While five people have been arrested so far, hunting from Gembong, said police who tended to solve some past cases after their arrest.
