Thane: Thane District collector Rajesh Narvestar has directed Murbad Taluka officials to immediately expand the basic facilities and benefits from the government’s welfare scheme to a bad tribe widow.
The Widow, Leena Khandu Mukne (35), suffered leprosy and was in a dilapidated hut in Hamlet Mele from Murbad Taluka.
The collector’s actions came on Sunday after Vivek Pandit, former MLA and Chairman of the Maharashtra Government Storage Committee on Tribal’s welfare, highlighted his fate in a letter.
“Providing an Antyoday ration card (to utilize subsidized food grains) and Sanjay Gandhi YOJNA (related to financial assistance) Subsidies (to women) directly,” said collector in a message.
The woman did not have a ration, aadhaar or voter ID card and did not benefit from the government-sponsored welfare scheme.
