Thane: jammed for more than two decades, Kharega Rail Over Bridge (Rob) was finally inaugurated for the public in the midst of high political drama by Sena-NCP for ‘credit’ for the construction of Rob on Saturday.
Rob was a grace for thousands of residents after the closing of a deadly train gate on the lane in Kharegaon, where residents had to cross to reach the Kalwa train station, which led to many accidents and motorists had to wait to cross.
The total project costs are Rs 38.94 Crore including the train bridge and TMC spend RS 27.34 Crore.
Civil sources inform that this level intersection has resulted in local train delays in the central route and previously used to influence the schedule mostly including the express train.
Also, thousands of lives are lost due to intersections.
But after the long delay was finally inaugurated by the Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, MP Shrikant Shinde, Mayor Naresh Mhaske, among others.
High drama applies on the inauguration sites where political workers from NCP-Sena shouted slogans when the Ministers and Awhad-arrived on the site.

In their speech, the ministers and MP tried to shrink ‘Rift’ between each other on the inauguration site and said that ‘all of them had done their bits for Rob.
Awhad was pressed for alliances with Sena, but Sena leaders have avoided it because the housing minister has thrown a tone for future civilian elections.
Then at an impromptu press conference, Awhad showed that he was handed over to the invitation the day before without submitting his approval or schedule.
Even Mayor Naresh Mhaske called for an impromptu press conference that claimed that Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde and MP Shrikant Shinde were intimidated the day before.
Mhaske claims, “that it is in the interests of residents to be inaugurated as soon as possible.” A proposal will be submitted in the next general body meeting to name Rob after Late Leader Sena Anand Dighe, it was stated.
Citizenship officials informed that Rob was built by the central train and TMC at the 16 / c cross level.
The total length of the bridge is 641 m and the width is 11.30 meters.
From this, the work of a 63 meter long bridge in the railway line was carried out by the train.
The work of the road jurisdiction of the road linked on the east and west side of the railroad limit has been carried out by TMC.
The work done by TMC includes the east side of the flyover which is 308.00 meters, the length of the bridge on the west side is 270.00 meters and bridge width (for vehicles) which is 7.50 meters.
The stairs have been provided for pedestrians on the east and west side to cross the railway line, said TMC officials.
