Thane: The police have launched the search for a man suspected of deceiving around six people here at Maharashtra of Rs 13.34 Lakh with the pretext of getting their job at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), police said on Thursday.
The defendant was identified as Sunil Prabhakar Khotre, a resident of Tilak Nagar in the Chembur area in Mumbai neighbor, allegedly promising administrative work and others to the victims in the BMC Conservancy Department and took money from them for the past year, the Naupada police station.
SG Inspector Hattekar said.
The defendant also issued a letter of appointment of fake meetings, ID cards, police and medical verification letters to the victims.
However, the victims then found them cheated and approached Thane police, the official said.
The police on Wednesday registered fir against the defendant with relevant provisions and launched their search, he added.
