Kalyan: A 14-year-old girl was raped by a 35-year-old man at the Ulhasnagar train station on Friday night.
The defendant forcefully took the victim of Ulhasnagar Skywalk to an isolated room in the train quarter, where he raped the girl.
At the victim had suffered minor injuries on his head too and received treatment at the hospital.
On Saturday morning, the victim together with his relatives first approached the local Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar but the police sent him to the Vithalwadi police station for jurisdictional issues.
From there he also sent to Kalyan GRP.
After he reached Kalyan GRP, a rape case, assault, and section related to the protection of children from an ACT violation of the sexual assault (Pocso) registered.
The defendant was arrested by Saturday night.
The defendant who was arrested was identified as Shrikant Gaikwad aka chest.
He is a resident of Ulhasnagar and has several criminal cases registered with him.
