Thane: Relaxation of covid-related restrictions in Navi Mumbai and Thane are along the same line as Mumbai, except timings for retail stores.
In the Thane District, all retail stores and companies will operate until 10pm from Monday to Saturday while only those who sell important items will be operated on Sundays.
In Mumbai, non-essential retail stores are permitted to function on Sundays too.
Revised norms for the district including Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli and Navi Mumbai Corporations were announced by the Thane District Disaster and Disaster Management Authority, Rajesh Narvestar on Tuesday.
“This district remains at level 3 but has been permitted some relaxation,” he said.
While the mall, religious center, theater and auditorium will remain closed, select sports activities will be permitted.
The bar and restaurant will operate until 4pm with 50 percent of dinner for dinner, while shipping and takeaway facilities have been allowed to late at night.
Government and private offices will function with full presence.
The shooting will be permitted and the park can be opened between 5am and 9 o’clock in the morning, except in the NMMC area where the city commissioner Abhijit Bangar said they would make a decision later on.
The retail industry has welcomed a series of fresh relaxation.
Kalyan-based paragon jewelry said the extended time would greatly benefit its customers who could not shop because of limited timings.
Mitesh Shah, a trader from Thane, said that some traders were on the verge of being turned off, but relaxation would now help them stay and restore losses suffered over the past few months.
Deepak Chatlani, the president who works from the Association of Traders Ulhasnagar said relaxation ahead of the festival season can benefit their traders and clients.
