Thane: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Thane Maharashtra has arrested citizenship and plumber officials for allegedly demanding RS bribery 5,000 to issue work orders for new water connections, officials said on Tuesday.
A violation under the prevention of corruption law has been registered against the Sunil Narayan Walanj Junior Engineer of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and Ravindra Harishchandra Dayre, plumber, Inspector Vilas Mathe from ACB said.
The defendant’s engineers were suspected of demanding RS 5,000 from the complainant to provide sanctions and issue work orders for new water connections on new construction, the official said.
After negotiations, the defendant settled Rs 4,000, and ACB put a trap on Monday and arrested a plumber who received a number of bribes on behalf of citizenship officials, he said.
